Queue the Jaws Music

Today has been another roller coaster day, combined with a few swings and roundabouts, and lastly some serious pain. Some days when you feel like things are going your way the universe has created a different path for you.

It started out fine. A bit like the Titanic really. The thing is icebergs are out there, and if you already  have a fire in a coal bunker and carry on like normal then the iceberg might actually be the least of your worries.

My sleep in my new 500 thread count sheets was divine. It was everything I could have wanted. It was a real taste of luxury, even though I know there are even better sheets. for me I appreciated  these sheets more than most people might.

I was up by 6:30, and got my day underway. I planned to visit the hardware store and buy a few items, then drive into the middle of town to the Maker Space at the library, where I would be making some things with a 3D pen, then to the supermarket, before travelling home for a lunch meeting with KW. And after that I fancied getting creative with some wood or artwork.

The reality was the store had just sold the clamps I wanted, so I got a couple of other things I also needed. I may have to go to another store later this weekend. it was not the end of the world.

Then the library did not open until 9:30, so I went and got some photos that I had printed at another store. The photos were great. On return to the library I discovered that the Maker Space would not be opening until 10:30,which was going to be too late for me to do anything. Disappointing. Yes. Again, not the end of the world, I could come back tomorrow morning.

The grocery shopping went fine, so far the only thing that went to plan. And the meeting with KW also went well as we worked our way through a few things that needed dealing to. KW has such a great sense of humour, and it makes getting on with her so good. She gets most of my twisted, sometimes dry, sometimes dark, and sometimes perverse satire.

After that I fancied working on my garden. I feed the plants a special seaweed and fish liquid fertilizer that really stunk, worse than when I used to make it many years ago at the factory. Hopefully this would help the plants recover from last night.

Next up I thought a flower box to hold some of my plants that were on the ground would be nice, something that just clipped onto the rail of the deck and thus would not damage the property. And so I made that, which actually looks rather cool, and I potted another two plants just to help thicken up the look.

I went and posted some photos to my sister, and visited the op-shop where I am always warmly greeted, catching up on the break, and buying some stuff. Like this red number, can't wait to wear it out.

I thought a rest was in order, and I even had a short nap.

Now queue the Jaws music.

Something was playing up and getting worse, my infected jaw under the big tooth.

I made a real nice dinner, and as I ate the pain in my jaw started getting substantially worse, and boy do I mean worse. I was starting to look at my 5Kg 600 mm wrecking bar and thinking how I might use that to solve the problem. If somebody had said here’s a bottle of Gin I would have said bugger the alcohol and hit myself with the bottle.

I rang KW for some advice and connections. As usual she is full of help, which is why she is so darn good at her job. I followed through and managed to get an emergency booking at 10:30 in the morning, a lifetime away. I got some advice on pain relief, rang my sister and let her know what was happening, then drove to the other end of town to the only open pharmacy to get some things.

It wasn’t a bad drive as the sun slipped below the horizon. The pharmacist had what I wanted, including some advice. I was so glad to get home and start putting things into action to help ease the pain.

I spent much of the evening watching some YouTube videos, got some great feedback on some photos of me, keeping my mind distracted and allowing the pain relief to do its thing. What is funny is that despite the pain I can actually tolerate ice touching the affected area and tooth about four times longer than I normally could, it being almost pleasurable.

I also caught up with some other contacts online and conversations I was following, and I may have a friendly face to visit on my next trip to Auckland.

It is very late right now, or very early depending on your perspective. The pain has been returning and I have taken more painkillers, and now wait for them to kick in.

It really has been one of those days. If I do not post tomorrow (today?)it may be because I am feeling the effects of the emergency dental work tomorrow morning, I shall update my Facebook page with that progress.

Aroha to you all,

Geogina
